You can select the game install in Origin under settings on the General tab.
If you want to install your games to another drive, you can select the path.
Normally, the game installs to a folder called "Origin Games" inside of Program Files or Program Files (x86)
In Roids case, he was told to install it to D:/Program Files/Games
Roids runs 32 bit Windows 7 - on my Windows 7 64 bit, I don't have a Games folder in Program Files, yet I can see a Games folder from Start menu > All Programs.
So ... you have a choice. Apparently, the Origin BF3 installer goes a bit haywire when C drive is not the default install location. PapaPayne had his game from disc install to Electronic Arts folder in Program Files. Dunno why.
But you definitely do NOT want to copy an installed BF3 game ... to another location. Use the installer in Origin's settings.
UPDATE: Roids bought a disc version of the game - this time on install, it installed to
D:/Program Files/Battlefield 3
He's still having problems - can't stay in game.
UPDATE: Roids thru MS phone support, was finally able to get BF3 installed after buying an upgrade to 64 bit Windows. |

I tried changing the default download folder to my D:/Program Files (x86) > Origin Games, folder and it works. When i click download BF3 it shows it wanting to download the game in the D drive which is what I want but... Once it starts downloading i look at my C drive and it is still forcing it to download it into my C drive... I have a 30 gig SSD and it isn't big enough for BF3. Please help me figure this out. I spent 60 bucks on this game and I can't even play it. msg me back ASAP thanks. |

Welcome to the TBD site, scintology
Based on what happend to Roids in the OP, do you have 32 bit or 64 bit Win 7 ?
Coz that appears to have been the deciding factor in Roid's case .... upgrading to 64 bit. But let me tell you - that upgrade wiped out all of Roid's hard drives - he has 4 in that pc - so disconnect all but your SSD c drive before trying the upgrade.
If you already have win 7 64 bit installed, thats going to be some google time looking for an answer. Plus don't forget, Roids went from Origin to disc source for BF3. Wat a mess ! |
