So the CTE version of BF1 - community test environment - has been patched with a weapons patch Sept 1 2017.





I've transcribed some of Westie's remarks -

CTE 09.01.17 patch

LMG damage increased

now will kill in 4 to 5 hits, as opposed upto 7 hits

tweaked recoil value of light MGs that had low damage to offset their new damage model that is much closer to the others - guns?

chouchat from 35 to 38 max damage and 21 top 23 min damage, to extend its 3 hit kill range, equalling a 4 hit kill maximum

bar and bm have same caliber rounds have max damage is 23 to 26.5 and min damage from 19 to 23

Assault class - SMGs and Shotguns - have had similar increased value changes


so basically all machine guns - lmg, smg - have had their min and max damages increased a few ticks

and some of these guns have had their recoil slightly increased to counter the increased damage levels



self-loading medic rifles - improvements to accuracy and damage at range - aimed accuracy while standing still increased and spread increased per shot fired has been reduced by 50%
the affect is to push the effective range of the medic rifles out further to make them different from LMGs. The problem is that medics'effectiveness in close quarters has now been reduced somewhat - therefore losing on average against SMGs and LMGs.
Almost all medic rifles will lose against SMGs and LMGs, except for the new fedorov Avtromat aftermaf, which is basically an assault rifle - and the cei rigotti and m1907 sweeper are full atuo.


no changes to sniper rifles and pistols


Shotguns - reduced how much randomness plays a part in the pellet dispersion. All shotguns now fire 12 pellets per shell, and the dispersion is now 12 sectors - 6 inner and 6 outer, and each sector contains 1 of those pellets, evenly dispersed across the cone of fire, rather than being grouped together in one position providing massive damage.
Should cut out long range kills, and at close range, the low level of damage.

In effect, these changes are shortening the time to kill - shaking up the weapon balance - and each class of weapon feels more consistent and fair.

LMGs can now outclass SMGs in range.


These changes will more than likely be adjusted again in these directions in a month's time.

another video about the CTE weapons patch ... and no, the current BF1 weaponry has NOT been modded, bumped nor nerfed.

DICE is applying a fix for the keys AD AD problem in the CTE version of BF1.

ADAD spam is Battlefield 1's version of "bunny hopping

at the 2:50 mark, there is a side by side video of the current and adjusted ADAD spam

in otherwords, acc to this vid's opening statement, this adjustment will help the game before the next DLC in early 2018, help in keeping a number of players in order to sustain player/buyer interest through this game into the next, whenever and whatever that title might be.
