Ok after some friendly ribbing last night I decided to do something different with my microphone...
So I'm a decent handy guy and I, like probably most of you, have bits and pieces of junk laying around "just in case"... Well this time it paid off keeping around an old one-ear headset...
The earphone wasn't working anymore but the mic still still pretty decent.
I basically ripped off the mic branch from the earphone, cut the plastic a few times to get the wire out, cut the earphone wire and separated the two wires so I could keep only the ¼ inch mic jack. The ¼ inch earphone jack and wire went back to the junk drawer while the defective earphone went to the trash...
Tested the sound from the mic with the Mumble loop feature and it works pretty fine. Doesn't pick up the sounds that are further then a few feet so no more "cars" lol...
Then I proceeded to attach the mic branch to my Tt esports headset...
Mic is now longer then before so it is closer to my mouth.
Enjoy the pics. |

Very nice Pucker. Down here we use to call that African Engineering but now we call that a presidential solution. |

Anything can be accomplished with Duct tape and a butter knife. I believe in Canada its referred to as McGyvering |

After using it for a few days I think my setup works ok...
I have to remember to plug the mic connector before loading Mumble otherwise it'll take the default which is my webcam mic.
I told Stufz that if you hear water flowing just let me know and I'll double check Mumble's settings. |
