Here it is in all of its naked glory ! box art
At first .... well, where else but first ? .. it wouldn't post, error code said Bad Memory.
Sure enuf, put the other stick in, in place of the one bad stick - SucCeSs !
The only other thing to freak me out a bit was the appearance of the cpu's bracket showing the small gaps between the bracket and the cpu's case itself. Odd, never seen that before. Made me think I had pasted and placed the heatsink ... RONG somehow :p
Turns out that the mating surface of the CM hyper 212 Evo - its a direct contact set of pipes, instead of a bland square block surface - was sitting as it should be. Temps were okay, but didn't know that until I had a good memory stick in place.
So a few minutes of stopping and starting the pc - mobo has a power on button !! <3> and temps in bios are mid 20s.
I used the square method of applying the applesauce - a flat square of paste.
all pix by phone cam - late nite, or early morning ... much kwikker, easier.
You can see the gaps on either side of the heatsink and cpu's bracket

Very nice
Most CPU heastinks now are very similar with ref to that "spacing".
Most some stock H/S's are "flat" or have no space, excluding very high end CPU's. |

Finnally ! some updates, where I is at with this build
I bought this case the same week that I got started on Papa's case, which took me into the first week of september - bit more than 2 months.
This is the only decent pic I got of the case box or case ! - I didn't have but a short tripod and old man knees kept me from using the tripod. Azza Genesis 9000 - its 23" tall by 25" deep by 10" wide. Weighs in at 36lbs.
That's the top of the case's frame - it normally holds 2 x 230mm fans up top - but you can see all the fan mounts, accomodating upto 4 x 120mm fans
The case has a motherboard tray that not only can be pulled out, but can be flipped and inserted to either side - hot new feature these days - reverse-atx. Sometime in July or August, I went ahead and put all the parts into the case - I had already tested the parts outside of the case - and here you see the CM Hyper 212 Evo heatsink cooler, sitting on top of the i7-3770K chip.
Now these pix show what I did today, having sat on my ass with post Switch partum blues for sometime.
I have spent a bucket of money on water cooling parts, and bot more, then some more, then even more !!! and all I've got to show for it are these pix of the 2 radiators all fanned up, in the case
Ran across a post by a guy at OCN, wanting to sell his Gentle Typhoon AP-15 fans - a dozen of them - they are spec-wise the best fan there is for push/pull config with a radiator. But they're all over the place, and since a lot of water cooling gear is about "bling" - other more showy fans get put to a build. That's a Hardware Labs Black Ice SR-1 480mm radiator, at 54mm thick.
Here's the XS-PC RX240 rad with the AP-15s attached - its 64mm thick.

That's it for today, these builds can take a while, some like to do as much as possible in 20 hour marathons ... But unless you got a firm idea or vision of what your build is going to come out - there's a ton of different hardware items that one can put to a build - hopefully ending up with a one-of-a-kind build that others' will envy |

Ok, so this past weekend or week ... I sat down and redid the video card block - coz I forgot to take off the protective tape !!
Here's what it looked like with the tape on the sticky strips - and that's the gpu chip, all cleaned up in the center.
Here's after without the tape -
OK - so I'm twice the idi0t ! I put the card and block together - and realized that I hadn't put the BACKPLATE on
So, another take apart, then PUT IT ALL TOGETHER ! and the first time, when it came to putting the last 2 screws in, all I had were piercing screws. THey didn't fit. So I called EVGA and they sent me another pack of screws ....
You can see the 2 longer black screws with piercing or tapered ends. Same bag of screws as the first bag
So I used 2 of the smaller screws ... and called it good ! ! and No, I tried and almost got it, but couldn't get the bracket bolt/washer & nut on.... needed a 3rd hand ! |

Well tell me, what method did you use for the thermal compound? Did it cover well? Did it look as if the thermal tape was making good contact?
As many times as you have taken that apart we might look at modding it and install dzus fasteners on it. |

just a crossed rice .... when I took the block off, there was good coverage, but i had put on too much first time around, i think, might have even spreaded it, i likes to have it both ways, peanut butter on the steak |
